BWK Construction served as the General Contractor for the Boston Yacht Club’s new outside dining areas that required the replication of historically significant detail of the existing building. Unique construction methods included construction of staging built off the existing piers as well as temporary shoring to allow for the installation of a 45 1.f. steel beam through the side of the building. The Yacht Club’s Commodore Lounge entailed a complete renovation of the second floor as well as modifications throughout the Club. The compass rose inlay in the flooring at the entrance to the lounge creates a decidedly nautical feel that is beautifully complimented by the extensive mahogany millwork throughout the lounge. The project was performed on a design/build basis and included an elevator replacement to allow for ADA compliance.
