The Salisbury Beach Residence project allowed BWK Construction Co., Inc. to function in a variety of roles, each with its particular responsibilities and challenges. As a Construction Manager there were environmental regulatory issues to be resolved and balances to be struck between design intent and budgetary considerations. BWK served as the constructor as well, with the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems being design / build, which in turn put a premium on coordination. The property is located on the beach, which mandated an intensive focus on the building materials and the soundness of the finished product. The primary design intent was to achieve an unobstructed, expansive view of the ocean from all levels. This was accomplished by raising the existing structure to accept foundation reinforcement and modification. The interior and exterior are a seamless melding of the traditional comforts and feel of a beach house with the modernity of top of the line kitchen and bathroom equipment, advanced lighting and sound systems.
